From The Charlotte Post:
North Carolina is a step closer to strengthening laws against human trafficking.
The North Carolina Senate last week unanimously passed House Bill 198, which implements recommendations made by the North Carolina Human Trafficking Commission in its 2019 report to the General Assembly. The bill, sponsored by Reps. Ted Davis and Sarah Stevens, passed the House earlier this year 110-0 and awaits Gov. Roy Cooper’s signature. The commission’s recommendations were the culmination of collaboration with stakeholders, including law enforcement and victim advocates, to identify reforms to reduce human trafficking and provide expanded assistance to victims.
House Bill 198 included recommendations from the Human Trafficking Commission and removed many of the obstacles victims of human trafficking face.
